AMY & ROSS
RELAXED WEDDING AT
MELVILLE CASTLE NEAR EDINBURGH
GETTING READY & CEREMONY
Amy and Ross were married on the 16th February 2020, typical scottish weather for the time of your right up until the day before they were due to get married and then the skies cleared and the sun came oot.
The day started at 0730, as I travelled from Fife to Edinburgh a shhort journey across the Queensferry Crossing and I arrived in plenty of time at the rather lovely Melville Castle, just off the A720 near Edinburgh.
I caught up with the amazing Hugo who was supporting me with the groom preparations and ceremony coverage and we had a quick walk round the venue to reaffirm our heads with the lovely views before we headed inside to meet up with a rather excited bride and groom on their wedding day.
Melville Castle is simply stunning inside and outside and provided plenty of great photographic opportunities for getting ready in the morning and also for the wedding ceremony which took place in their rather grand ceremony room. It was such as romantic occasion, full of emotion and lots and lots of laughter.
Following the ceremony, I let the newly married Mr and Mrs Newlands have a few mins with their guests and family and also time to themselves to let the emotion of the day sink in and enjoy the moment of beig married. Once the couple were ready, everyone was lead outside for the grand group shot and we captured all the family and guest images that Amy and Ross wanted to have. Once all the guests and family were starting to get the party going at the bar, we took our opportunity to spend some time and caputre the more intimate bride and groom images and simply enjoy the peace and quiet as well 🙂
The reception was held in the beatifully decorated marquee in the garden, the venue is perfect for weddings because it’s so cosy and relaxed, and it’s got such a wonderful vibe, especially in the castle when the room is full of people having a great party.
Everyone emjoyed the raw emotion of the speeches and it was clear to see that Amy and Ross were deeply in love and it was lovely to see them surrounded by family and friends gathered to witness their marriage and celebrate with love, laughter and tears with the speeches. Once the speeches had wrapped up, I left the guests to enjoy their well earned dinner and refreshments after the ceremony and speeches were completed.
After the speeches, everyone got a reprieve and headed for the bar (there is a theme occuring !)
This allowed Amy and Ross to have a breather and mingle with their guests and share stories and catch-up with relatives, it was soon for the evening reception to start and Mr and Mrs Newlands were officially announced to the evening reception and was ushered to the dancefloor to cut the cake and start the night with the 1st dance.
Full credit to the couple, they were straight on the dancefloor, and the dancefloor was packed all evening.
The whole wedding was so laid back, from the romantic vows to the wonderful speeches.
Set in an idyllic country estate on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Melville Castle is a unique and enchanting location for wedding receptions and civil partnerships.
The Castle has played host to weddings of all shapes and sizes from the grandest of society weddings to smaller and more intimate affairs
